Regional Advisory Committee

Region VII

The Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) for Region VII has been in place since 1992.  The RAC is comprised of Family Planning, Laboratory, and Sexually Transmitted Disease programs in the four states.  This committee meets at least twice per year to discuss the enhancement and expansion of programs to reduce the prevalence of chlamydial and gonococcal infection, particularly in young women.  This committee, currently composed of state STD, family planning and laboratory program managers, is collaborating in a project known as the Region VII Infertility Prevention Project (IPP). This project is funded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  The CDC and the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) work collaboratively to administer this project.

The IPP Regional Advisory Committee is composed of the five Family Planning Directors, the four state STD Directors and the four State Laboratory representatives from Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. The committee meets approximately two times per year to share information, make policy and program decisions.

Infertility Prevention Project staff and the Region VII Family Planning Training Office facilitates communication between federal, regional and state participants and provides assistance in data collection and management. Training related to chlamydia/gonorrhea prevention, screening and treatment is also provided.
